A Patient reports repair of ruptured fore foot plantar fascia when in Japan about a year ago. Kevlar suture was utilized to repair the plantar fascia. Kevlar suture was, as patient reports, made in China, and was apparently defective. The Patient reports pain in the area of the fore foot repair because the Kevlar is apparently become fragmented and shards of kevlar are irritating. Pt reports surgeon’s records have been sealed and she can not procure copy of chart. Tiny pieces of kevlar are apparently suppurating and causing shallow ulceration plantar forefoot. Have you heard of Kevlar suture material being popular in Japan?? Any info will be helpfull. Henry C Traska Jr DPM Arlington TX Phone 817-274-3303 hctdpm@gmail.com
